The last Kacie Eats of the year! I want to thank you all for keeping this fun and always saying kind words about Kacie Eats. To know it keeps some of you entertained at work warms my heart. To those who delete and unsubscribe, I hope you enjoy the You Pick Two at Panera for the rest of your date nights. JK, I love the You Pick Two…Bacon Turkey Bravo, holler! The sweet crust on that tomato bread is life.
This month I tried OKC’s newest Italian concept, Osteria (pronounced OH-stir-ee-uh). It is located in the old Nichols Hills Starbucks spot off Western and Avondale.
First things first, Osteria has an amazing Instagram (@osteriaokc) and we have been following them for literally 18 months. They kept posting all these amazing food pics and tempting us, all while never actually being open. First strike, Osteria!!
As soon as they opened I made a reservation cause I knew Kacie Eats needed to get. in. there. I took Kaleb cause I love him and I told him we had to order everything. He was up for the challenge.
For appetizer we ordered the coccoli platter, which was a glorified Lunchable. Hot puffy dough with honey drizzled over it, prosciutto, and soft, creamy cheese. Layer and enjoy. Very highly recommended, and as you know, honey is like the dark horse of any savory dish. It rounds it out so perfectly.
For entree I knew I had to order the rigatoni in a jar because they actually mix it for you at the table and dump it onto your plate in a hot and steamy pile of carbs and bacon. Is there even a question here?
Kaleb ordered the bolognese and I really had higher hopes for it than it turned out to be. I would describe it more as a stroganoff flavor than a tomato sauce flavor. It was good, just not what I was expecting. Next time I think I will try one of the gnocchi dishes. All of the pasta is made fresh on site daily, so you can definitely taste the freshness.
For dessert Kaleb had the chocolate torte and I had the lemon budino, which I can only describe as a pot of custardly love with berries and crispy white chocolate on top. 10/10 would recommend.
I enjoyed the atmosphere very much. It was loud, but you guys know I just turned 30 so I’m getting up in age and loud things bother me. Overall experience was fantastic, service was great and food came out quickly. This would be a great spot to go after work or take out of town visitors. Don’t take your parents cause they will complain about the noise and how they can’t pronounce things on the menu.
Let me know what good foods you try over Christmas break!! See you in 2019!
How is it almost 2019?! This year has been such a good one. We are excited to announce that we will close 146 sales this year for a total of 29.4 million in volume. We exceeded our goals this year and we couldn’t have done it without you. As we take the last two weeks of this year to wrap up loose ends and get all set for 2019, I can’t help but be overwhelmed with gratitude for this time of my life. There are highs and lows, and I am excited for all we will be able to do together in 2019. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!
