So, some of you know my husband and BFF Kaleb with a ‘K’ is a high school football coach (go Patriots!). This means I halfway lose a spouse from August to November every year. He coaches until 6:30 every night and then he has games on Fridays (his team is 7-0, they’re totally going to the ‘ship). If you get that reference message me because I need to know who my people are.

ANYWAY, the way I still get to see him during the fall is by doing a few date days when our schedule allows. And this is one of my favorite dates.

First, Nashbird. Have you guys tried Nashbird? Some of the tastiest fried chicken ever. Make sure to order the pickle ranch. It’s like an extra vinegary ranch. Also the potato salad. Also the frozen rose’ slush. Sit on the patio. They usually have a fantastic early 2000s R&B playlist going. Also, if you have a two-year-old train-obsessed son with you, you’re right next to the railroad tracks and you can usually see a train or two go by.

Next, hop next door to Siempre Viva + Twinkle Apothecary. Two local vendors in one shop. Twinkle has amazing handmade perfumes and face/body products made here in OKC. I’m into their face whip. Siempre Viva is amazing for gifts and has some really cute clothing items. They’re all sourced from artisans in southern Mexico.

By now you may have digested enough to move on to dessert. If not, you may take this opportunity to hop onto a Bird or a Lime Bike. If you’re late to the party, these are motorized scooters you can rent and ride around. Downtown OKC is overrun with these babies. Careful though, this guy I know catapulted over the handlebars on his ride and broke both of his forearms. Proceed with extreme caution. We watched several people almost bite it when sitting on the patio at Nashbird. Physical comedy is my favorite so this added bonus really took it over the top.

If you’ve skipped the bikes, head next door to Katiebugs. I love Katiebugs cause Katiebugs loves Harry Potter, and I love Harry Potter. This year they made all Harry Potter themed treats on HP’s birthday and even stamped all the customers with the Dark Mark when they checked out (of course Kaleb Kinney got one, he is a total Slytherin). During the summer, Katiebugs is known for their shaved ice. During the winter, they’re known for their homemade marshmallows and hot chocolate. They started as a small food truck, and they’ve now opened a brick and mortar location and it is precious inside. They also have a good selection of baked goods that changes daily. If it’s nice outside you can grab your cocoa and walk down to Automobile Alley and hop into Shop Good. One of my faves.

I love this date because 1) you can get a variety of experiences in just one spot 2) free parking 3) Lots of food 4) shopping.

Thanks for all the kinds words you guys share about Kacie Eats! It’s always so nice to hear that you all try some of the places we mention.

Next month I’m going to NYC for the first time so you know I’ll be eating my way though that city like it’s my job.

Until next time!!

We had so much fun at our annual fall client appreciation event, it was great seeing everyone who came out. Thank you for supporting our business. We appreciate every single one of you!
